Description
My Sunlu S1 dryer is mounted on the top frame of a MK3S+ at an angle. Occasionally, the filament roll would bind against the dryer wall and it's heat plate, causing a print failure. The other options available were too flimsy and when I needed to replace the filament, the rollers would always fall out when using the alternative mods.
Print Instructions: Supports as shown in picture. No need for supports where the threads are if your filament is dialed in. 0.4 nozzle works best, although I did print with a .6 nozzle.
Installation:
- Peel away a small area of the foam padding (circled in red)
- Unscrew two screws holding the metal heat plate (circled in green)
- Remove the front roller by pulling up. The foam padding may get in the way but just keep pulling, you wont hurt it's feelings…
- Install the roller guide. If you're having issues lining up the screw holes; press on the heating plate to flex and help align it.
- Install the rollers, it should snap into place.
- Install PTFE tubing/connector at a 45 degree angle. Be very careful, its very fragile and may break. I used a deburring tool to help clean the inside of the hole before inserting the PTFE tube.
Filament Recommendation: ASA, ABS, NYLON. I had to print in Nylon, since my PETG deformed due to the heat. It could be my specific PETG though…
