Description

This winder applies the design concepts used in @TinkrMakr's model at https://www.printables.com/model/60527 to a smaller footprint.

Compatibility

This winder is designed for USB type C authentic Apple Watch chargers. The charging puck should measure about 6mm in thickness and have a diameter of roughly 28mm. Due to the limited interior winding space, cables over 1 meter are not recommended. The finish of the puck and the style of cable should not affect functionality as long as the conditions above are satisfied.

Print Instructions

Designed for a 0.4mm nozzle, recommended material PETG. Print objects as oriented; ~0.2mm layer height, no supports. To increase bed adhesion, consider reducing in-slicer elephant's foot compensation until the inner & outer first layers each have at least 3 perimeters. Avoid too little compensation to prevent the initial layer from fusing together.

Assembly & Operation

Some force may be required to separate the winder parts. Align the outer and inner cable holes and route the cable as shown below.

Slide the remaining cable through until there is minimal slack. Align the cable protruding from the puck with its top slot, and insert the puck at an angle as shown below. It may take some force to insert, be mindful of the cable.

Wind the cable up clockwise from the top. The USB-C plug can be inserted until it hits an interior stop. Note the rotation of the cable protruding from the puck, as at certain angles it can interfere when inserting the plug.

If when fully wound the plug cannot be pulled out by hand, rotate the winder to force it out. Use a combination of pulling out cable and rotating the winder when unwinding.
