Description

ASIAIR Plus — bay sized to ZWO's published 102.5 × 70 × 26.5 mm.

What it holds

ASIAIR Plus — bay sized to ZWO's published 102.5 × 70 × 26.5 mm.

The device is held by four corner posts only, with 5 mm of clear air along the middle of every face. Nothing bears on the rear panel, which carries the DC input, the ON/OFF switch, the antenna jack and the status LEDs. The 5 mm gaps double as finger access for lifting it out.

It sits on four corner pads with the whole centre of the bay open beneath, so the bottom dovetail bracket hangs free. 12 mm of drop clearance as supplied — enough for a Synta finder bracket or the ZWO dovetail groove. Reduce shoe_h to about 5 if you run the stock flat foot, and the case loses 7 mm of height.

8 × microSD — 3.7 mm pitch, chamfered mouths. Alternate pockets are 1.5 mm deeper, so neighbouring cards stand at different heights and come out one-handed with gloves on.

WiFi antenna — 12 mm trough that wraps past the equator so the antenna presses in and stays put. Takes up to 115 mm laid flat; the first 24 mm opens out to 16 mm for the elbow and SMA collar. Change ant_len for a high-gain replacement.

SV241 (second version) — bay sized to SVBony's published 96 × 61 × 25 mm, same corner-post treatment since it has connectors on both ends. 20 mm of clear space above it for coiled DC leads.

Print settings

  • PETG, 0.2 mm layers, 4 walls, 20 % gyroid

  • No supports. Both parts print flat-side-down exactly as exported

  • Brim recommended on the long lid

  • Elephant-foot compensation on — without it the first layers of the rim spread and the cavity mouth ends up undersized, which fights the lid fit

Every part has been checked for watertightness and unsupported geometry: zero non-manifold edges, zero faces overhanging past 45°.

Material (solid volume → approximate printed mass at 4 walls / 20 % infill):

Notes on use

The lid is a lift-off with a 4 mm ring lip and a 45 mm pry tab on one end face, deliberately placed where nothing else is in the way of your thumb.

Friction fits don't stay where you set them. PETG creeps under sustained load, so a lid dialled in today will be looser after fifty cycles. Temperature moves it too — across the 117 mm lip, going from a 12 °C imaging night to a hot car boot is roughly 0.27 mm of dimensional change, more than the whole interference. If that matters for how you carry it, set keepers = true and the case grows strap slots on both body and lid: the webbing threads up through the body keeper and straight on through the matching lid keeper, so once it's cinched the lid is captive regardless of the fit. Adds 15 mm in Y. Takes 25 mm webbing, 410 mm minimum.

Bottom is flat — no feet, no rails, nothing to lift the first layer.
