Description
There is a reason why cabinet keys are usually made of steel - the forces while turning the key are considerable.
The approach to reach maximal strength is to print it with a 45° angle (see image). Use a strong material, I tested it with PETG CF, ASA or PC (CF recommended) should do it too. PLA will fail immediately, even PETG without carbon additional is probably too weak.
Depending on the material (ASA or CF) you should add a brim.
-
Wall loops: 7
-
Infill: does not matter (as the key is almost solid with the wall loops)
-
Support: not needed - the design uses overhangs which should be usually be printable
The design was made in OnShape and is public.
