Description
This is a companion filament guide for the Prusa MK4 Spool Holder:
Printing
Print the guide from the same material as the spool holder. I included GCode for PETG - otherwise I recommend to start from the PrusaSlicer project.
I would not recommend using a roughly textured material, like Carbon Fiber or Wood infused materials, since it would increase friction on the filament. Plain PETG works best.
If you use the STLs: turn the model to lie flat with its "foot clamp" sticking up a bit.
There are two versions available: one for the Prusa spool holder as is - pointing right - and one for a mirrored spool holder - pointing left. My own spool holder is mirrored, hence it points left in the pictures above.
Assembly
You need an M3x14 screw (M3x16 will be fine too) and a M3 hex nut. Insert the screw and nut into the holes next to the foot clamp. Turn the screw a few turns to attach it to the nut, do not tighten it.
The filament guide should stick forward and upwards from the spool holder. The arm with the filament hole should stick over the spool arm. Attach the foot clamp to the top hole in the spool holder. Then tighten the screw.
Done.
CAD
I included the original FreeCAD 1.1 design - I tried to name features so you can find them if you wish to change something.
I also included STEP models if you do not use FreeCAD, but want to use a different CAD system to make modifications.
It's under the same open license as the original spool holder from Prusa, so feel free to modify, mix and mash.
