Description
I'm not the first one to do something like this, but I did come up with this design myself. It's pretty straightforward. Print one set of brackets for each side. Mount them as shown in the pictures using #8 sheet metal screws. Be careful not to get them too close to the rails or you will get a collision. The bracket is designed to sit flush with the inner edge of the Y rail's foot both front and back. Cut a piece of 1/8" hardboard 5 1/5" wide and whatever length you need for your machine variant. The Journeyman is just under 36 7/8". If you have a Foreman you may want an extra center piece to keep things in line. The hardboard is flexible enough to snap in after the brackets are in place. Just move your X axis all the way to the back first. I also notched the hardboard where the brackets are so it would close the gap at the bottom.
I have not ran a job with these yet, but they should make for less mess under the Y rails to vacuum up. I did run the gantry back and forth to make sure there's no clearance problems.
I printed in PETG with 3 walls and 25%. PLA would probably work fine as well.
