Description

This part comes from an old Eriba Puck caravan and the purpose of the knob is to keep the roof extender in a fixed position. Replacement parts are scarce or impossible to find. Parts can be found, but not in the right shape or colour.

The original part has a threaded steel bushing. It is possible to 3d-print thread, but it's not suitable for frequent use. So we need a steel bushing as well. For this project i have used an extended M8 nut.

PrusaSlicer makes it possible to create a pause in the G-code and the printer stops at the given height. During the pause you can install metal parts such as a nut.

When printing this knob, the printer was paused twice. 1 time to install the extended M8 nut and a M8 bodyring (large diameter washer) at 26.30mm height. 1 time to screw a short M8 bolt into the extended nut at 32.60mm height.

Inbetween those steps, the bodyring was closed in by filament. When screwing in the M8 bolt, the extended nut is locked in place and can't fall out anymore.

In the pictures you can see the original knob and 2 printed knobs. The knobs were printed with a 0.1 mm layer height in order to get a smooth finish at the top.

Aditional parts needed for this build:

extended nut M8 x 24mm                                                                                                                 body ring M8                                                                                                                                       bolt M8 x 10mm
