Mô tả

Designed this scraper to add a scraper functionality to my snow broom.

Just twist, remove and flip the scraper in order to switch between the rough and smooth side.

Material: PETG/PLA Layer height: 0.2mm Perimeters: 4 Top- and bottom layers: 4 Infill: gyroid Infill percentage: 30%

Make sure your filament is well dried and you have minimal stringing, as this can influence the precise fit of the parts.

If possible try to print with PETG for the added stability benefit. However PLA also worked very well for me until now and was able to withstand the forces while scraping ice off my car.

The print is separated in 3 parts:

-Scraper -Base plate -Bumper plate (only necessary for attachment via zip ties)

The bumper plate makes sure that when the base plate is attached via zip ties, the stress on the zip ties is reduced due to stopping the base plate from sliding back while scratching ice.

I have included one file where the base plate and the bumper plate are put together in order to help with the bridging of the base plate. Just remove the bumper plate after the print and flip it around to use it in the correct orientation.

Printing tips:

-There are no supports needed, If you run into issues with the bridges in the front part for the bumper plate. try adjusting the bridging angle so that the bridges run along the part and not across.

-If the bumper plate fuses with the base plate at the bottom layer, increase your elephant foot compensation

-If the base plate ends up being a tad too tight for the scraper, make sure your printer is properly calibrated or take the “dirty” route and scale up the base plate by 0.1mm (or whatever value you determine to be necessary) along the length in the slicer. Just make sure to scale exclusively the length axis of the base plate and not the other dimensions as well.

Mounting tips:

I used 3 countersunk head screws (1x 18mm x 4mm ; 2x 12mm x 4mm), chose screw length according to the thickness of your broom. If the screws are too long you risk scratching your car when using the broom!!

Best practice is to pre drill the broom before. Just use the base plate to align the holes, pre drill the first two bottom holes and attach the plate. Then pre drill the third top hole and attach with the longer screw. Also make sure to be gentle with the pre drilling and take adequate care that the broom is well secured. If you drill completely through the broom and continue to push further, the drill can catch on the bristles of the broom which may result in the broom starting to spin uncontrollably and/or snap your drill…don't ask me how I know.

Take special care not using too much force to screw in the base plate, in the end we are still talking plastic and we don't want to turn “righty tighty” into “righty loosey”

Feel free to add recommendations in the comments, I am happy to update the design with useful changes if necessary.

Happy printing!
