Mô tả

This is my custom solution to the filament storage dilemma. I created this bracket to use wood dowels as the support rod connecting two brackets. You should print in pairs, and use inexpensive 3/4" wood dowels you can buy at your local hardware store.

I have printed these with PLA, 2 walls, 4 top/bottom layers, .24mm layer height, and 15% infill and these are more than strong enough. I have used precut 12" wood dowels in some, and in others I used 48" dowels cut to 15" lengths.

With these two configurations you can hold 4 or 5 rolls of filament respectively. I am very happy with these brackets and my storage solution. I can print more as needed. I just keep these caddies on the shelf as shown in the photos.

I like to print them as left & right versions, but this does not matter. I have added relieve to one side to give it some interest. No supports needed. Just print flat side down.

No, i'm not worried about wet filament. I have kept my spools exposed for months without issue. Occasionally I get a spool that might need to go in the dryer box for 6hrs and then it prints fine. I print almost exclusively in PLA. I also live in a temperate climate, but my print/work room is kept heated and cooled with 50% or less RH most of the time.

I look forward to seeing your makes, and to getting any feedback to make these better. I tried an alternate version with more holes, but that just adds more wall surface and does not save on filament anyway.

Thanks, James
