I made a new downlight cover for my SLV Myra Wall downlights I use at my garage. I wanted to have more surrounding light and a nice modern light effect to look on when walking towards my garage.

As you can see on the shop pic of this downloght the standard cover does not have any kind of light ring. Therefore I made a 3D print with a color change to use transparent filament. The advantage ist hat YOU choose position and height of this light ring as you wish. I choosed 5mm height and 0% infill for this part of the light shade.

Another „failure“ of this downlight is the heat dissipation. Even in winter the downlight get warm even with LED spotlights. This causes water condensation which is not very good for any electronic component inside. The front glass is also glued and there is no possibility to get condensed water off so LED spots dont live very long and in worst cases the lamp housing runs FULL of water which causes short circuits. Not good but is it nessessary to change all lamps? No!

To solve the problem I included some drainage channels to my design. In addition to an acrylic/plastic lense the water can drain off via these channels and the inside is always dry. The acrylic lense is not glued it just lies loose in the cover which keeps all bugs away.
