There's nothing scarier than building a vase mode model and seeing a bunch of holes when you hit "slice," except for when it works! And it's actually easy print: will work with PLA and PETG, 0.4 or 0.6 nozzles. There are no special settings, all print tips are merely for new users.
I've sized it to approximate using over an LED tea light, but it should be ok to scale up or down.
Print Tips:
- Remember to enable spiral vase mode (PS under “layers and perimeters”)
- Bottom layers are optional, if you go with 0, my only recommendation is to bump 1st layer extrusion width to 150% (PS under “advanced”) instead of a brim.
- If you load 3mf file, I placed a cut out for tea light designed for 3 bottom layers at 0.2mm layer height. It's important you don't go over 0.6mm total shell thickness on the bottom or there will not be an opening!
- If you prefer PETG like myself (translucent green pictured), remember to print this with FAN ON high or risk droopy extrusions.
Update:
Added “pyramid tree” model (from which Pixel was born). I was going to discard it, but then thought it's an easy fast print (vase mode) so why not keep it for variety's sake. There's very little detail in this one so feel free to bump extrusion to 0.3mm layer height.
Update#2:
I've made a separate post for a larger version with included trunk/LED tea light holder. Other than that, the 2 files are basically interchangeable.
