Pinecone WLToys sg1602/1603 modification

These are some modifications I did to a Pinecone/WLToys SG-1603-Baron drift truck. The parts will fit the SG-1602 as well, as many others wit the same chassis.\

I replaced the rc controller and receiver/esc module by a regular 4-channel receiver that works with my FlySky RC-controller. I use a gyro receiver from FlySky.

I modified the steering servo to standard 3-wire by installing the circuit board of a cheap micro servo. Any servo board will do as long as the potentiometer is 50kOhm. This was necessary because the original was 5 wire and I had no fitting servo to replace it. Aliexpress sells replacement servos with standard 3-wire pwm interface.

I used the cheapest ESC I could find on aliexpress but I'd advise to use a Hobbywing 80A ESC as it is programmable and lets parameters be altered.

I replaced the steering servo bracket to accomodate the ESC (stuck on with double sided tape).

The flysky receiver fits between servo and motor. So the whole left side compartment of the chassis is ready for batteries. I use regular 2S LiPo packs of 100mm x 38mm size. I printed a base plate to fit a velcro battery strap without having protrusions underneath the chassis. This baseplate gets stuck in with double sided tape (I had to use 2 layers).

The rear wing seems to tear out the holes in the body so I created a support piece to reinforce the bodyshell under the wing
