A Gridfinity holder for paper towel rolls. Should fit any paper towel, as long as the internal diameter of the roll is above 30mm. If you find a roll with a smaller diameter, leave a comment and I can make a thinner design. Or customize the design yourself, see the instructions at the end.

The holder is very stable when all magnets are used. You can grab the paper towel and yank to tear with a single hand, the holder won't tip over.

The paper towel rod may look solid, but it's designed hollow to minimize filament use. The bottom has 6x2mm magnet holes, courtesy of Gridfinity Rebuilt. These have a special design to assist with bridging, so the magnet holes print cleanly.

There are multiple variants available for different printers! Check the different files available in the downloads to find one that fits your printer. They all have the same base, but with different heights. Models to fit the Prusa MINI, Bambu Labs A1 mini, Prusa MK3 and MK4, Ender 3 and more are available. If none of these sizes work for you, you can also customize the model to get a smaller holder, see the instructions at the end.

The print in the pictures is the 248mm version. It was printed with:

• Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro, 0.4mm stock nozzle
• Inland white PLA+ filament, 1.75mm
• 0.2mm layer height
• 20% gyroid infill
• 3 perimeters
• No supports, no brim, no raft

These settings are enough to result in a strong, durable paper towel holder. You can go with a lower infill, but if you do I'd recommend adding a modifier cylinder around the base of the rod to increase infill there. The base of the rod is going to be the weakest part, and would benefit from increased infill.

This model is customizable! Download the .scad file, and open it in OpenSCAD. OpenSCAD is free and open source! Once you open the downloaded file, you'll see the customizer on the right side of the screen. You can adjust these numbers to customize how tall the rod should be (the entire print will be about 8mm taller than this), the diameter of the rod. If you need the base plate to be smaller or bigger, that can also be changed! Adjust the gridx/gridy values to change the grid size.

Once customized, you can press the render button above the console in the middle (a cube with an hourglass), or press F6 on your keyboard, or click “Design” then “Render” on the menu bar. You'll know the render is done when the whole model turns yellow, all the rounded surfaces become smoother. Once rendered, click “File” then “Export” in the menu bar, and pick the file format you want (usually 3MF or STL).
