Description
This is a cycloidal gearbox for a standard Nema 17 stepper motor designed to be as efficient as possible while maintaining a compact size. The gearbox provides an 8:1 gear reduction. Most of the design is 3D printed, but it uses a number of easily sourced non-printed parts to improve reliability and durability.
This is a redesign of my earlier stacking planetary gearbox which only provided a 4:1 gear reduction. This design is about 20% taller but provides double the gear reduction.
Non-Printed Parts:
2x M3x12mm screws (amazon*)
2x M3 (6mm L x 5mm OD) threaded inserts (amazon*)
2x 30x37x4mm ball bearings (amazon*)
2x 10x15x4mm ball bearings (amazon*)
17x 2x20mm dowel pins (amazon*)

Modding:
I support anyone who wants to modify this design and create their own remixes. To make things easier, I provide the onshape document.
