Description

The original light cover which was made from extruded polystyrene, had yellowed and become brittle.  During a recent renovation project, one of these brittle original covers got damaged and I was asked to recreate the shades if possible.

My printer doesn't have enough Z travel to recreate the ~25" long shades in a single piece without assembly lines showing through the shade.  I decided to lean into the seam as a point of interest, and made a separate connector piece to enable rearranging them for a unique look.

I printed these on my Mk3s from transparent polycarbonate filament to ensure these never get broken without a fight, and loved the effect of the fuzzy skin in scattering light.

These MAY have been strong enough when printed in vase mode, but I made them solid to ensure they would last.
