Description

This design solves a common frustration for collectors: those beautiful, irregular, or "pointy" challenge coins that simply refuse to sit straight in a standard grooved stand. After searching platforms like Yeggi and coming up empty-handed, I took to Autodesk Fusion 360 to engineer a solution that prioritizes versatility and stability.

As seen in the images, this holder moves away from the restrictive "slot" design in favor of two strategic round posts. This allows badge-shaped coins to find their own natural balance point, ensuring they sit level regardless of their bottom geometry.

Design Features

  • Universal Fit: Specifically engineered for large, badge-shaped, or pointed-end coins that fail in traditional stands.

  • Dimensions: A compact footprint of approximately 50mm x 50mm (~2 inches) and a height of ~40mm.

  • Tested Geometry: The 5mm distance from the peg stopper to the base accommodates a wide variety of thicker, high-relief coins.

  • Material Optimized: Through several iterations, I’ve shaved away unnecessary material to reduce print time while ensuring the rear-tilted weight of the coin provides a solid, tip-proof base.

To get the best results for this model, I recommend the following:

  • Material: PLA (works perfectly).

  • Infill: 15% density is sufficient for strength and stability.

  • Supports: Required. I have optimized the geometry to minimize support needs, but some are necessary for the pegs and overhangs.

Feel free to modify remix or update the design just please give credit.
