Description
A desktop thread stand made from a small block of wood, two 5 mm dowels, and a 3d printed feeder.
What you need
- A block of wood large enough to use as the base. I've cut mine to arbitrary dimensions and it ended up being: 125 x 85 x 35 mm.
- One 5 mm dowel roughly 10 cm in length.
- Another 5 mm dowel roughly 25 cm in length.
Recommended print settings
- PLA
- No supports
- 15% infill
- Ironing: Rectilinear, 30 mm/s, 30% flow, 0.15 mm spacing. Orient the motion along the long edge.
- (Optional) Add text in the slicing software
Steps
- Print the included model and put it on one end of the long dowel. Use superglue if needed.
- Bore two 5 mm holes on the top surface of the wood block. One in the centre and one near any of the four corners. See the attached photo as a reference.
- Put the short dowel in the centre hole and the long dowel in the corner hole. Use superglue if needed.
Note: I've drilled the corner hole too big by mistake and have created a small grommet to hide the rough edges. I've included the model just in case anyone else makes the same mistake.
