Description
I have been using Surfalex2000's Prusa XL series: Debris bucket ever since I received my Prusa XL. It does a great job of catching the debris that falls off the nozzle and lands behind the XL, on the power supply and the buddy box.
I have designated my 5th dock to have an extra tube that has a bigger internal diameter to feed TPU easier using a 3mm ID/4mm OD PTFE tube. But recently I added the Prusa XL enclosure on to my Prusa XL printer which made it more difficult to find a place for the TPU tube to exit the enclosure. Before I just routed the TPU tube outside the printer. But with the Prusa XL enclosure its screwed on top of the printer.
Surfalex's right debris bucket is in the perfect place to have a PTFE tube exit. You could probably choose a different dock and it should work as well.
I first mock tested my idea by drilling and dremeling my original Surfalex2000's debris bucket to see if it would work. It worked fine but I wanted a nice clean print so no little bits could come out. So, I added a hole in the back bottom right of the the right side debris bucket and printed it with supports.
When installing the bucket and if you already have your extra ptfe tube attached, then start feeding the PTFE tube though the bucket. Next, feed the bucket through the back of the Prusa XL and put in in place. After install the left bucket like normal. I added a short 4" zip tie above the stock zip tie to connect the extra tube to the stock ptfe tube. You can see it in the cover photo with both the right and left buckets installed. Do not tighten the zip tie too much or you will pinch and distort the PTFE tube that will hinder the TPU feeding. I also added another zip tie at the rear to keep the tubes and wires as tidy as I could.
Hope this will be a good remedy for you as it has for me.
