Huy hiệu logo DAF vintage (OpenSCAD)

Introducation

There are other 3D models of this vintage DAF logo, but I wanted an accurate logo that I can change, for example with a personal text as a gift. Therefor I made the logo in OpenSCAD.

To use the script, download the "Daf.zip" file and unpack it. Keep the files "Daf.scad" and "Stilu-SemiBold.otf" in the same folder. Open the script "Daf.scad" in OpenSCAD. Press F5 to see the changes and press F6 to calculate the final result.

Font

The shape of the letters "DAF" on top are created in OpenSCAD, without using a font.

The text in the ring uses the STILU font by Genilson Lima Santos. It has a Open Font License. A file "stilu.zip" with the license and a readme file is included in the "Daf.zip".

Painting

The rough metal or stone effect was created with zinc spray.

The zinc spray can be covered with varnish or paint.
I covered the zinc spray with acrylic silver paint in the photo below.

The photo below is the DAF logo with zinc spray, then painted with old copper paint and then dry brushed with gold paint and covered in glossy varnish.

License

Since the result is a 3D model of a (vintage) logo of a brand, you may only use it for personal use. I don't mind if parts of the OpenSCAD script are re-used.

I wrote the script in OpenSCAD to recreate this vintage DAF logo from scratch, but I do not own the design. The name and logo are owned by DAF Trucks N.V.
