Description
Here's an awesome truck for the Chevy fans! Heck, even if you aren't a Chevy fan, it's a pretty sweet truck. GM never made a crewcab Chevy Apache, so any that you see will be custom jobs. This case is no different, since the cab is simply a modified version of the cab from my 1957 Chevy Apache. I designed the deck from scratch, and the chassis was also mostly original. I'm not happy with the chassis, but as of yet it isn't on my list to model in the near future. The wheels were copy and pasted from the model of my 1969 Chevy Towtruck.
The deck, chassis and wheels were printed in black, with the deck printed vertically (the headache rack on the bed).
A note for printing the wheels: the wheels must be printed with a 0.3mm nozzle or smaller, elsewise the details will not print.
As per usual with my models I used straightened paperclips for the axles, Krazy glue to reinforce the weak points (On this model, specifically the mirrors) and I painted the entire body with simple acrylic paints. For my silver highlights I used a silver Sharpie, and the headlights were done with a silver Sharpie and then a yellow Sharpie once the silver had dried. The clearance lights were done the same way but with orange. The taillights and license plate were done with a thumb tack dipped in paint, because I have no ultra fine brushes.
After I printed the truck, took pictures, and gave it away, I printed a gooseneck hitch for it. I've previously used this model: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3016919#google_vignette by charl1300 in my Dodge Dually rebuild:
But this Apache is too high, especially considering that a deck similar to this in real life would have the 5th wheel hitch set into the deck of the truck, so i simply printed a small cylinder (Probably 1.75mm X 3mm) with a large brim and then cut the brim into a square and glued it to the deck.
