Prevent your clean white Mouse USB cable or Nylon braided cords from rubbing on the desk dirty surface.  also reduces drag by  reducing the contact points from the length of the wire to a few contact points on the chafe guards.  Print as many as you want and place them in the most likely positions where they rub on the desk.

If noise is an issue try softer plastics like TPU/TPE
