Description
Hello!
You're probably here because you saw those Chocobo Drones tending on Bluesky for a bit and went "I wish I could be a Chocobo Drone!". Well, here's your starting point! Please read the entire page, the prerequisite, the instructions, the extra notes, EVERYTHING!
What you need here is :
- The project file from this page
- A MSA Millenium Gasmask (M/L)
- The Dangerous Ladies Chocobo Racing Mask files, found here : https://dangerousladies.ca/products/racing-chocobo-mask-3d-print-files . Go get their files and support their work!
- A 25cm x 25 cm x 25xm printer AT MINIMUM. This model is quite big. If you don't have one, ask a friend or a local 3D printing company to help you out.
Steps to inject the Chocobo half mask file into the project (see pictures in the image section) :
1. Open the Chocobo Half Mask project in your BambuStudio. These steps should also work with OrcaSlicer!
2. Go to objects.
3. Navigate to the "Replace this with Mask top back" item in the list.
4. Right-Click, Replace with STL
5. Find the "Mask Top Back" file in the Dangerous Ladies Chocobo Racing mask files.
6. Model should have been replaced. Tada!
This should now be printable in this form, albeit it will need a bit of cushioning on the back top.
My advice? Glue some Velcro strips on there (the soft side) after processing/painting/varnishing, it will act as cushioning and as a attachment point for a feather mane. There should be some example pictures on my Bsky.
Now, a last few things to note :
- This project only currently functions with a 3D visor outsert fit for a MSA Millenium Gasmask M or L. If you have a S, I'm sorry, I cannot help you further.
- This project was made with my head-size in mind! You might have to do a couple test prints and modify the struts in the slicer in order to fit your own head-size. As mentioned before also, the top needs some cushioning so some repositioning might be required to make the fit a bit more comfortable anyway. So feel free to modify the struts/positioning as you see fit!
- You will have to find a custom solution for the attachment band : I've been using a TPU attachment band developed by a friend.
- Assembly/painting/varnishing is the same as the normal Chocobo Racing Mask. Dangerous Ladies has plenty of guides on how to assemble 3D printed cosplay props, follow these!
Have fun!
