Cryptex Qebehsenuef: Bí Mật Chim Ưng

Keep your small treasures guarded by the protector of the West. This model transforms the falcon-headed Canopic Jar of Qebehsenuef into a fully functional, customizable mechanical Cryptex.

Inspired by the classic "Da Vinci Code" style locks, this jar requires a specific sequence of hieroglyphs to align before the lid can be removed. It is designed as a print-in-parts, snap-fit assembly that requires no supports.

• Customizable Code: You can change the combination during assembly by rotating the outer rings.

• Internal Storage: The inner chamber measures 25mm in diameter and 95mm in height—perfect for scrolls, cash, or small keepsakes.

• MMU Friendly: Hieroglyph rings are designed for easy multi-color printing to make the "code" stand out.

Recommended Print Settings

• Supports: None (each part is designed to print without supports).

• Material: PLA or PETG (Marble PLA looks excellent for the jar body).

• Walls: 0.4mm nozzle; 2-3 perimeters for general parts; layer height 0.2mm or less.

• Tolerances: The snap-fit joints are tight. If your printer over-extrudes, you may need to lightly sand the mating surfaces.

Post-Processing Tip

If printing in a single color, you can achieve a "museum" look by painting the jar with a thin acrylic wash (watered-down black or brown paint). Let the paint settle into the grooves and wipe the excess off the surface to make the ancient text pop! This is the gold paint I used.
