Description
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ FIRST!
This is an early release / work in progress. The design has NOT been physically test printed yet due to printer issues. Files are shared openly for community feedback and testing prior to a fully tested release.
Overview
This project is a modular filament storage system designed to be scalable, stable and easy to expand over time.
The system consists of individual modules that can be connected using dedicated connectors, allowing you to build horizontally and vertically without relying on long through-rods. The goal is a solid, long-term storage solution rather than a lightweight quick print.
Key Design Features
-
Modular and stackable - build as small or large as you need
-
Dedicated connectors between modules
-
Rod system with anti-rotation profile for improved spool stability
-
Rods insert halfwat into connectors, enabling easy expansion
-
Designed for 1kg filament spools (200mm x 70mm)
-
Optimized for strength and rigidity, not ultra fast printing
The design focuses on stability and long-term use, which means print times are higher than minimal spool holders by design.
Printing Notes (Preliminary)
These are recommended starting points based on slicing and design intent, not physical testing yet:
-
0.2mm layer height
-
4 perimeters
-
15-20% infill (Gyroid or cubic)
-
No supports required
Feel free to experiment and adjust settings as needed
Files Included
-
STL files
- Ready to print
-
STEP files
- Included for customization, tolerance adjustments or remixing.
Feedback wanted
If you decide to test print this, i'd really appreciate feedback on:
-
Fit and tolerances
-
Rod and connector interface
-
Overall stability
-
Suggestions for improvements or add-ons
Planned Future Options
This system is designed to be expandable over time. Planned add-ons and variants may include:
-
Corner modules
-
End plates / side caps
-
Wall-mount adapters
-
Additional connector variants
-
Alternative layouts or orientations
These parts are not finalized yet and will be developed based on feedback and real world use
Roadmap
This early release is shared to gather real world feedback.
A tested and refined V1.x release will follow once real-world testing is complete.
