Description
🇱🇰 ශර ලකවට සදරයන පළගනම!
Welcome to Sri Lanka!
Sri Dalada Maligawa (Sinhala: ශර දළද මළගව), commonly known in English as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka, in the central highlands of the island country. The temple is located in the Royal Palace Complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. The relic was historically held by Sinhalese kings.
The relic is enshrined in the middle building, around which the whole complex is built. The shrine has an additional golden roof built above it, supported by a truss structure, and can be seen from outside the temple complex due to its increased height. This is a World Heritage Site (from Wikipedia).

Assembly of Multipart version
The model has been split in parts so that it can be printed in colors without necessary use of MMU/AMS.
Parts are named with the suggested color, so you can print those at once together. Follow the pictures & instructions below for assembly:
- 0 - External wall & Octagonal pagoda - a simple sub-assembly. Place the “water” of the moat in place, and add the octagonal roof.
- 1 - Cloister - the additional parts for this are a front porch that wraps around the corner opposite the Octagonal pagoda, and two side wings.
- 2 - Museum - the back part of the assembly is the tallest rectangular building. It has an inner façade from the courtyard, and a stack of roof and building parts up to the top.
- 3 - Golden canopy - print each part separately, bend the truss carefully using the fold marks in place, and glue the canopy to the raised two bars. The truss sits on the sides of the cloister.
For the “main” buildings, I used pause-and-change filament color in order to achieve more colors without needing to split further in parts.
For these, I suggest: start with green grass > beige floor > white building > grey small lower roofs > white again building > brown under roof eaves.
With MMU/AMS, you can add even more details, like doors, windows and under-eaves in brown, tips of spires in gold, etc.
