Description

A simple (and modular) suet ball feeder for small birds that can be easily hung up. The idea for the design basically came from Danko79, but I completely redesigned the feeder. 🐦

I left the center piece separate; the top and bottom parts are simply screwed on. This way, I can keep creating updates that are compatible with the parts. For example, I'm thinking of several mounting options, a roof, or something similar. I created two different bottom parts, with and without struts.

Updates:

  • 2025-11-14: Added optional bottom part with two small benches.

  • 2025-11-16: Added connector for two or more tanks and tank without openings.

  • 2025-12-10: New upper part with universal parts for screwing in for various suspension solutions added (idea of the "universal hanger" from Clamikra)

  • 2025-12-15: Added bottom part with tray.

Print settings:

It works with any material. However, it is recommended to use a material that is suitable for outdoor use (UV, rain, etc.) such as PETG.

There is nothing special to note for the lower and upper parts. The threads have a tolerance of 0.2 mm and are designed at a 45-degree angle, so they can be printed without supports.

The small window openings in the middle section may require support structures, either seamless or organic. However, I recommend doing a small test print, as many printers can bridge the gap without supports. The threads in the middle section also do not require any supports.

Wanna say thank you? 🙏
