Ly, Ly Bị Móp

Introduction

A mug that is as new or a dented mug. The design comes first, it is not made to be easy to print. The source code is a script for OpenSCAD and is also included. The printed 3D model is meant to be sanded and painted.

The inspiration for this design comes from deep drawing, where a metal disc is extruded into a mug.

Printing

The mug was printed tilted, resting on the handle. With 0.15 mm layer height, organic (tree) support and a raft. The layers are still visible after sanding and painting, a smaller layer height and a thicker primer would be better.

OpenSCAD

The source code is a script for OpenSCAD and that is included in the zip file, together with the used library. Be sure to unpack/unzip the zip file before using it.

The shape is made with an experimental design method. The surface of the shape is made with control points. If the shape needs to be changed, then the list with control points has to be changed. It has advantages and disadvantages to use control points.
The thickness of the handle and the wall thickness can be changed in OpenSCAD.
