Description
I was thinking to myself the other day…
I said “Self, you know what we need?”
Self said “No, what do we need?”
I responded “A way to peel cables easily and safely that doesn't involve putting pants on and going out in the cold to buy a ready-made tool for it.”
Self said “Agreed. A life with no pants is the best life.”
So I designed this up in Fusion360, printed it, revised it once or twice, and then peeled a metric crapton of cables so I could wire my CNC control cabinet.
I'll post photos when I can figure out what the hell I did with the damned thing when I was done with it.
Step file attached.
Print oriented on end as two pieces side by side with supports touching buildplate.
Uses a standard utility blade and a single M3x8 socket head cap screw to retain the blade.
Blade cuts ~2mm deep.
Instructions for use:
1. Ignore the pants
2. Put cable in the end marked IN
3. Push cable through until you can grab it with one hand.
4. Squeeze Pantsless Cable Peeler and pull cable. It doesn't take much effort.
You may need to cut the end of the cable sheathing a short ways to get to your shiny new peeled slot down the side, then just grab wires and pull sideways through the sheath.
Congrats! You've successfully avoided pants for yet another day!
