I love these cheap tape measures for fishing, but one dunk in salt water and the spring corrodes and breaks. I created this to convert them to manual wind. Carefully pop off the cover, discard the spring & spool, and attach the loop on the tape to the new spool. With the tiniest bit of super glue, capture the cover between the spool and the finger knob. Make sure the cover spins freely. Reassemble the cap to the body with a small amount of super glue.
