Description
Since I had just designed the Vault Crate, I thought a pencil box might be a nice application for it, sized it to fit most pens/pencils and even a short ruler (17cm inside length) and added some compartments/dividers. And added a second lock for increased safety (or just for the looks…). It also happens to just fit onto my trusty Prusa Mini (without skirt) :)
I suggest printing the nuts in a different color, and maybe also print some spares :)
Tolerance might be an issue. A test print may be useful to avoid wasting much filament and time: In PrusaSlicer, right-click the model and add negative volume: slab, size that up to the height of the model and move it so that it covers a good part of the model. Copy, paste and move that negative slab around a few times to cover almost all of the model except a small part with some hinges (I used 4 slabs). OR just use the provided test object that I made this way.
I used Marble Grey PLA Prusament, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer height, no supports (Bronze blend Prusament for the nuts). It's a print-in-place design and prints fully assembled (except for the nuts).
Edit: added another nut model with a more vault-like appearance.
