Description

Being kind of a coffee nerd (which arguably is the unsexiest kind of nerd, maybe right next to... collectors of minerals or something of that kind) I was always bothered by fine coffee powder getting stuck in the chute if my grinder. When changing beans, this rancid powder of coffees from ages ago typically gets loose in chunks, contaminating my otherwise perfect espresso.

So clearly something had to be done.

First I found out that attaching the original lid with increased momentum will blow out tiny amounts of the powder with a gentle breeze. This evolved into the idea of some kind of brutalistic bellows to blow it all out. What an ingenious idea, I thought at first. An absolute novelty... until I learned that this already is a thing and high-end coffee grinders sometimes come with it pre-installed.

However... before I made this discovery, the bellows was already printed and it works surprisingly well. After seeing commercial bellows then, I learned that it would probably also work with a lot less air volume, so I made a much shorter version, looking only half as goofy. This one isn't tested though... so I'd be happy to hear some feedback.

Some advice on printing:

I tried the bellows with 60A and 70A TPU. Both are fine, maybe stiffer TPU would work too. Wall thickness is 1,5mm to make it perfectly printable with 3 lines on a 0,5mm nozzle. If you have 0,4mm, you maybe want to adjust your line width to 0,5 for a good print. Also make sure to print the inner perimeter first in order to prevent sagging on the overhanging sections. Lid is made of PETG, but any rigid material will do.
