Description

As most maintenance on air compressors and air systems are recommended to be done after X hours of use. I decided the best way to keep on top of that is to add a hour meter to the compressor.

This was specify designed for a mounting on a Kobalt KV5248069 80 Gal Air Compressor but will probably work with most air compressors that mount with 3/8" bolts. The face of this lines up with the edge of the metal compressor bracket plate if the center of the 3/8" bolt is 7/8" in from the edge; while that keeps this in a good position so it accessible and looks nice that's no requirement for the mounting of this.

This is designed to use a Aimilar mechanical hour meter but probably most hour meters with a similar shape would work, opening is designed 1.497" wide by 0.954" with holes on the centerlines of 1.75" apart with a hole size of 0.118" which works to allow a 3mm hardware to mount it. It is tight to get in and mount with 3mm so tweezer will help.

The electrical cable passthrough was designed to us 1/4" NPT Cable Gland but probably other rubber gaskets would probably work but I have not tested. If using the 1/4" NPT cable gland one can use a 1/4" NPT tap so it treads in or drill out the opening bigger and use the backing nut.

Print Recommendations:

  • Probably ABS/ASA for the mechanical properties.

  • Have a very high infill density (+75%) for the flange the 3/8" bolt hole mounts through especially if this 3/8" bolt is also used for mounting your air compressor.

  • May want to increases walls/infill density by the cable passthrough

  • The rest of the print probably isn't that critical for strength so walls/infill is up to you

Parts Needed:

  • Aimilar mechanical hour meter or other compatible size meter

  • 1/4" NPT Cable Gland X 1

  • M3 heat set inserts  X 4

  • M3*6/8 lid mounting bolts x 4

  • M3 * 8 (or longer as needed) mounting bolts for the meter X 2

  • M3 nuts/washers as needed for mounting the meter X 2

  • Various crimps/wires to hook up your hour meter

  • Possible a longer 3/8" Bolt/Washer/Nut as need for mounting this housing
