Description
All credit for the initial design goes to Printin'Monkey .
The initial design was a great start, but it didn't work for me 100% and my setup.
My Galaxy s24 in a rokform case was too thick so I expanded the cradle to 18mm to accommodate both the phone and the case.
I did shrink the depth of the base a bit so it leaves less of a footprint on my desk.
Removed the ring tray as with my watch bands, it was not usable for me.
With my Samsung Watch Ultra, the watch portion was too close to the phone cradle, so I slid that out to allow ample room between the phone and the watch portions. The rokform case had also added mass to the phone, which this move helped accommodate.
I intentionally tightened the tolerances for the recessed area around the watch charger. On the original one, the watch charger could easily come out of the recessed area due to the watch's magnetic pull or at random times, depending on the cable's tension. That was not good for me.
- The recess was reduced to a radius of 14.67mm or 29.34mm circumference.
- This is a tight fight, and you can firmly press the charger in. It may take a few attempts, but it will go in, and then you don't have to worry about it just popping out. I can hold the entire weight of the stand in the air by the charger's cable, and it will not come out, and that was my desired outcome.
I have created a few versions of a sliding lid that closes up the top of the stand in the area where the watch charger cable lies.
I included offsets of .15mm, .10mm, and .05mm to accommodate different printing setups. With my printer, .05mm was good. Depending on your printer and some feedback that I have received, you can also scale the width to 103% - 105% and it will make it more snug. It all depends on your filament, shrinkage and machine tuning. Do not scale the height or length. Just the width that spans across the gap/cable channel. WIth it being so small, it easily gives a little if needed when inserting.
This lid/cap only works on my version, as I cut grooves for it to slide into. They are not there on the original version.
I have two versions that I created.
- One where the stand's base ends with the watch holder's bottom. This worked great when using non-metal watch bands. Once I added a metal watch band, the weight of the watch/band could sometimes tip the stand over on its side when no phone was on it. This did not occur when using non-metal watch bands.
- The second model has a curved/rounded base on the right side under the watch stand to add stability.
While no supports are required for this print, I did have them for the critical areas. Gap on back of phone cradle, and under farthest edge of watch holder.
**Updated 1/3/25 - removed leftover lip between legs of the phone holder part. It's only a cosmetic change. The files have been appended with v2.
I also added a relaxed watched charging puck hole with a 14.8 mm Radius / 29.6mm circumference. The puck will not be as snug and can come out with little force. If you use the sliding lid/cap in my testing, the puck will remain put, but no force is needed to remove or insert it.
