Description
Variant shapes and sizes of cole jaw bumpers for common wood lathe chuck brands like Nova, VicMarc, or others that use an M6 post.
I initially had trouble getting the TPU/FLEX to print consistently, so I included my 3mf project files and Prusa MK3S gcodes for each variant. The main lessons learned were A) 0.1mm layers work better than larger layer heights, and B) don't rely on the extruder to pull flexible filament off the spool.
I learned the “smaller layer lines” lesson after the wide bumpers were printed and photographed, so you may want to try that 3mf file at 0.1mm instead of the included 0.2mm. The smaller TPU/FLEX dovetail project and gcode is already 0.1.mm.
All bumper variants listed use this shoulder screw from McMaster-Carr. Verify your Cole Jaws are threaded M6 and order at least one set of 8.
Alloy Steel Shoulder Screws
8 mm Shoulder Diameter, 25 mm Shoulder Length, M6 x 1 mm Thread
If you're going to print multiple variants of the TPU/FLEX bumpers, I recommend ordering multiple sets of the screws, because getting the flexible bumpers off the screws can take more effort that is convenient during a project. If you print the bumpers with a harder material like PETG or ASA, a single set of screws may be sufficient.
