Description

This is yet another collection of infill samples for PrusaSlicer 2.9.x. It comes with a nice little container that can be used to store the samples.

How It Works

The principle is quite simple: create a small disc in PrusaSlicer, give it explicit infill settings and set the top solid layers to zero, so that the infill is visible from the top. For added points: put some text on the underside to note down what the infill type and density is.

Rinse and repeat for every type of infill that PrusaSlicer has to offer.

Adaptive Cubic is a bit problematic, since its defining feature (bigger empty pockets) is only on the inside. For this I added an instruction to pause the print, so I can cancel at an appropriate layer. I also had to make the disc larger to give the algorithm a chance to create those pockets.

The container is a relatively simple FreeCAD (1.0) design that I included.

Printing

You can use the GCode or the PrusaSlicer projects. Both come in two variants - with MMU (or multi-tool-head) and without MMU.

The version with MMU uses filament 1 for the main bodies and filament 3 for the text on the underside. Since the text is only on the first layer, the wipe tower is really shallow. If you start the print manually Prusa printers will allow you to switch filaments around.

The version without MMU cuts the text into the underside to make it somewhat visible. Hint: use white PLA and use a pen/pencil to trace the text - that way it is easier to read.

Otherwise both versions are identical.

When printing the Adaptive Cubic sample: the printer will pause after about 12mm of height. Abort the print at that stage - I put the pause at a location that usually makes the adaptive pattern nicely visible.

If you have an MK4S either with a HF0.4 nozzle without MMU or a standard 0.4mm nozzle with MMU3: I included GCode for you, it uses PLA.

If you have a different printer configuration or a different printer: start from one of the two projects and adjust your printer settings.

Any material will be fine. PLA produces nice results, if you use PETG make sure it is dry to reduce stringing.

Have Fun!
