Description

Table tennis racket/Ping pong paddle

Build your personal weatherproof table tennis racket for the garden or playground. It consists of a core part (e.g., PLA) for stability and coatings (soft TPU) for ball control and grip.

The paddle can compete with entry-level commercial models (endurance test in progress 😊). It costs about €5 in materials and has some potential for individual tuning (e.g. open infill structure / see photos).

I used 3M double-sided adhesive film for glueing the layers together what works well and is easy to do. Superglue may work too. Printing in one piece with MMU was an option but rejected because of some limitations.

Printing

  • 1 x Core - PLA (CF) or other stiff material - 50 % infill

  • 2 x Sides - soft/foam TPU - 20% infill

  • (Honeycomb-Version printed with 0 top layers)

Accessory

  • double-sided adhesive film 25x25 cm (3M or other)

Assembly

  • Clean glue surfaces e.g. with your printbed cleaner

  • Glue adhessive foil on core part

  • Cut off overhanging edges with a utility knife

  • Glue on TPU side

  • Repeat steps with other side

  • It sticks better if you clamp it for a while.
