Description

The Kunlun's plunger happens to be perfect for Lynx style bullpups. With a Kuryaka 36mm pt, it drops right in. Add in a new catch block and the Lynx is all set to take Worker style springs (with 1 kink left to work out).

use the spacer for 250mm springs

the draw is increased to 130mm, but you can move things around a bit to get a bit more or less

averaged 300 with a 55cm barrel and OOD 1.5 Swift/MK4/NPX spring. slightly over 200 on 45cm kury and Worker 1.4x250, and just below 300 with Worker 1.6x270. With OOD 1.7x250, nitroshot, and a 55cm barrel, I cleared 350.

Hardware:

  • Worker Kunlun Plunger ($18 at OOD)

  • Any Worker style spring (~$8)

  • Kuryaka 36mm ID Lynx PT ($12)

  • 2 m3x20 screws (non specific. just need to be long enough to pin the catch block to catch1)

  • 4mm cut from the top lynx rail bar

  • 1 4mm OD catch spring

  • (not strictly necessary) 70mm of 4mm PTFE/bowden tube

  • (optional) 8mm ID 10mm OD x130mm piece of aluminum tube to constrain the plunger tighter ($7-10 and untested until my hardware arrives)

Potential Issues:

  • I have been testing with the stock Kunlun plunger. I can't say how long the catch will last against the steel version sold separately

  • The back of the spring rest has the potential to split along the layer lines since the back is not supported whenever you overdraw. You can either drill holes in the bars and catch 1 to add reinforcing screws/pins or shim the space between the pump block and catch block like you see on the Chibineko Lynx

  • This was all tested with my raised face sear, but the stock sear should have plenty of travel to engage the catch linkage

  • Hijinx+ pump is used since it's close enough, but it does shortstroke the ram by 5mm. I have not run into feeding issues using a Hijinx++ pump, so its unlikely to be problematic

Double Stacked Springs:

So the real estate for a standard lynx spring is still pretty available. I added a pair of catch3s that free up that space to take large diameter Hijinx springs so you can add k31, k18, or FX3 on top of your skinny spring of choice. Just make sure it has a starting length of over 180mm (bit over 7.2 inches) and compresses under 49mm (FX3 at full length may be cutting it close).

Alternatively, you can just use this with only wide springs as an in between of a Hijinx and Hijinx+.

WIP:

  • Print Zip reduction

  • Maybe deprime block integration?
