Description
While working with other 2020 profiles I noticed that they mostly retain features which are optimized for aluminum extrusion rather than 3D printing, like the hollow corners and center. No matter what settings you pick, every one of those internal features will drive the slicer to print those as walls, using more material and slowing down the print. Similarly it is impossible to force the slice to print infill through those areas if you're looking to create something heavier and more robust.
Also, since I'm typically making something for a specific project, having T-slots on every side is not always the best for every application, especially if you then print covers to keep the unused slots from trapping dirt and debris.
I applied these two concepts to create a range of shapes that fit within the 2020 aluminum T-slot concept. Comparing to the standard models I found online I can get about 15% faster prints for the standard 4-slot variation, and additionally 10% faster on the 1-slot variation. Material use scales down at roughly the same ratio. Happy making!
